This pennant celebrates the Georgia Bulldogs 1959 Football SEC Champions. It features the classic Bulldogs Uga mascot of the era. Georgia went 10-1-0 under coach Wally Butts to win the SEC Championship. At the Orange Bowl in Miami, the Bulldogs beat Missouri 14-0 on January 1, 1960. Quarterback Fran Tarkenton was an All-SEC sophomore team selection in 1958 and was an integral player in Georgia' SEC championship in 1959. His potent offensive unit that year drew the nicknames "Tarkenton's Raiders" and "Tarkenton's Music Makers." He led the SEC in passing completions and set a conference record for completion percentage in 1959, earning him All-SEC quarterback honors.
