Product Description:

This pennant is a historically accurate reproduction of an actual Notre Dame football pennant sold in South Bend in the late 1940s and featuring ND's football logo from the period. The Irish rolled through their 1949 schedule and were 9-0 when they faced SMU and Kyle Rote on December 3, 1949 for the national championship. The Irish jumped ahead but then they suddenly couldnt stop Rote. He brought the Mustangs back with two touchdowns but a missed extra point kept the score 20-20 with seven minutes to play. The Irish would go on a battering drive running the ball ten times and punched it in to take the 27-20 lead. Irish DB Jerry Groom picked off a MSU pass in the end zone to save the game giving the Irish their third national title in four years. Victory Pennants are made of high-quality soft wool-felt and are screen-printed by hand. They measure 12-inches tall and 30-inches long. They have traditional felt pennant-ties and hang beautifully. All of our pennants are manufactured in the United States and are officially licensed by the NCAA.
