In 2004, Tony La Russa became the sixth manager in history to win pennants with both the American and National League. In 2006, when his St. Louis Cardinals barreled through the playoffs and defeated the Tigers in the World Series, he became the first manager ever to win multiple pennants in both leagues and became one of only two managers to win the World Series in both leagues. With a managerial record of 2297-1986 by the end of the 2006 season, La Russa is ranked third all-time for total number of career wins, trailing only Connie Mack (3,731) and John McGraw (2,763). He is also one of only two managers ever to be named Manager of the Year in both of baseball's major leagues. Tony La Russa has hand signed this official 2006 World Series baseball and added the inscription, "06 WS Champs." A Steiner Sports Certificate of Authenticity is included.
